Bought a Topsy Turvy

March 11th, 2010 at 05:20 pm

For those of you who don't know what a Topsy Turvy is; it is a planter that holds a plant from an upside down position. They have been featured on TV infomercials.

Mine is for tomatoes but will grow other vegetables as well. My supermarket had them marked down from $10.00 to $4.99.

I have a friend who lives in a townhouse that has a small backyard patio that is fenced in with a private concrete fence. She grows the small grape tomatoes in a good sized pot where she has staked the plant. It gives out an abundance of tomatoes. Her patio is very attractive because she has other vegetables growing there instead of plants.

You have to have a small plant to grow there first. We'll see how it goes. I have to plant my beefsteak tomatoe seeds soon.

Wow, that's a great idea. I have a small patio so this may be something I will want to do.

It looks fairly easy to do. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yes, please keep up up-to-date on this. My husband and I think these things are hilarious, but it sure would keep creepy crawly pests away if the tomatoes are hanging off the ground!

I'm just thinking that the flying creatures i.e. birds or crows might like the hanging planter. Will have to keep my eye on it and might have to put a net around it.
